Supporting the homeless in Brighton: The restaurants' perspective

In its 2014/2015 annual report of the Director of Public Health, the city council admits that “Brighton is facing housing pressures and the number of people approaching the council for homelessness related help is 17 percent higher this year than 2010.”

 

Some of the many restaurants in Brighton are working to help in raising funds for Brighton’s homeless population.

Chips, sausage and beans in a dog bowl, toast in a flast cap, salad on a piece of plank and breakfast in a shovel!!!

 

These and many others are the ways that some restaurants across the UK serve meals to their customers now.

One celebrity's testimony turns Brighton's seafront restaurant to an Asian favourite

Regency restaurant has been passed from one generation to another since 1930. Its spectacular seafront location has a history of being occupied by wealthy people and businesses.

 

The original owner of Regency’s building, Mr Thomas Coutts of the ancient wealth managers, Coutts Bank bought the property as a holiday home so his wife could enjoy the view of the sea while she ate king prawns. This was a time when people did not travel abroad for holidays, they came to Brighton.
